CWFL Final Push to End of Season

As we come out of an unprecedented season the CWFL would like to recognize the efforts of all our volunteers, clubs and players. We have waited for so long for football to resume and the efforts that everyone is putting in now to see the season through is truly inspiring. It is tough though. With so many games to play, both Saturday and Sunday Leagues, teams are now beginning to flag a little. This week we saw 8 games be awarded to opponents, as teams could not field a side. This is not only frustrating to us but also to those teams who are chasing Championships and promotion places. Whilst we acknowledge that this was always going to be an issue we would now like to ask every single player, team, club official and volunteer to make a final push to see the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season. It is great to see that things are returning to normal such as Pubs and shops opening, Restaurants opening and the opportunity to do things that have been denied us during the past 15 months. All we ask now is that everyone does everything in their power to see through your final commitments for the league fixtures thus ensuring a fair competition for everyone who has taken part.

Masters Football coming to the CWFL

The CWFL are excited to announce that we will be offering a Masters Division for the2021-2022 season. Please contact Paul Graham via email at pgraham114@aol.com for an application form or call 07891 537116 for further details. Keeping players playing!

Return to football for the CWFL

The time has finally arrived and the return of grassroots football is with us once again. It was always built into the CWFL season plan to allow for a break in play due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the fact that we are able to pick up our Open Age and Vets competitions where we left off pays testimony to our forethought. It was inevitable however that not every team would be able to continue and we are sorry to report that AFC Park North and Winsford Diamonds have both withdrawn from the 2020-2021 campaign with both of them looking at returning next season. Sadly, due to the model of our Flexi game, all divisions in this competition will become Null and Void, as there is simply no time to conclude them before the end of our affiliation in June. In the place of the league schedule we are running a mini cup competition to allow those teams who wish to continue the opportunity to do so. The CWFL management committee would like to place on record our thanks to everyone connected to our league for their support, patience and understanding during these unprecedented times. The future for the CWFL looks incredibly strong with applications for the 2021-2022 season already coming in. We also have new opportunities to expand on our Flexi divisions for later on in the year with further formats of the game to be disclosed in the near future.

Message from the CWFL

The CWFL will resume football on Monday 4thJanuary for our Flexi competitions and on Saturday 9thJanuary for our Open Age and Vets competitions.

On behalf of the Chairman and committee of the CWFL we would like to thank everyone involved in grassroots football for your understanding, patience and commitment in how this year has panned out. These have been unprecedented times and every week the CWFL has had to adapt to the ever-changing course this season and last has taken us. It has been a turbulent year with everyone looking to our “slices of normality” on Monday or Friday nights or Saturday afternoons. We have had to ask a lot from you all to ensure that we meet the guidelines and each and every one of you has accepted what needs to be done without the slightest hint of challenge or dissent. It has certainly been a learning curve for us all but your enthusiasm to keep playing football has made every second of it worth the effort. As we look forward to 2021 you can rest assured that the CWFL will keep up with our efforts to keep everyone playing as much football as these times allow.

We wish you all the very best Christmas possible and a better 2021.

Stay Well, Stay Safe and we will see you all in 2021.

 CWFL.
